Send message to users/locations

The Tenant Administrators can send text messages to one or more users/locations within one or more sites.

The settings configured for emergency call alert messages also apply to text messages. For information about how to configure the alert settings (ring type and duration), see Steps to Configure Phone Message Alerts.

To send a text message to one or more users/locations, follow these steps:

  1. Click Instant Message in the left menu.
    If you don't see this option in the left menu, ask your system administrator to enable the "Instant Phone Messages" option for your company.
  2. In the Recipients section, select Extension from the Message Distribution List Type drop-down list.
  3. Type a message into the Message list.
    • The message cannot exceed 80 characters in length.
    • If the message is over 20 characters, the recipient user can scroll using UP and DOWN keys.
  4. In the Extensions section, click the + symbol associated with a user’s extension number.
    The extension moves from the Available list (left) to the Selected list (right). type message
  5. Select more users/locations as required, or click Add all.

    Optionally, click the symbol associated with a selected users/location to deselect, or click Remove all.

  6. Click Send.

The message is sent to the selected users/locations.
